Our Family
Javier Vargas is the founder of Cafe y Vida. Born in a small town in Colombia, he grew up immersed in the world of agriculture. After Immigrating to Canada with his Wife and 2 children in 2002, one of the things he missed most of life back home was the fresh, authentic coffee. Thus the idea was born, we want to bring a fresh cup of coffee to Southwestern Manitoba and beyond. We are looking to give back to the country we love so much. All of coffee comes from small, family owned farms from different regions in Colombia. Each region provides its own taste, textures, and aromas. We want this to shine in every cup of coffee you make with our bean. All our coffee is shipped in green bean and is roasted here in our hometown of Souris, Manitoba.
Where is our coffee from?
All of our coffee is sourced directly from small, family owned farms in different regions of Colombia. This picture is provide to us by El Cipres Coffee Farm in the Caldas region in Colombia, one of the farmers we source our coffee with.
Our Coffee
After our beans are brought to Canada, we have them roasted locally here in our hometown of Souris Manitoba. We ensure the highest quality bean and freshest roast possible. Because of this we have a cup profile of at least 83. The cupping profile of a coffee is an objective way to measure the taste of your cup of coffee. Cup Profiles are measured on a scale of 0-100. Any coffee with a coffee profile below 60 is not considered "specialty". You can be sure you are getting a premium specialty roast with every cup of our coffee.
